Tips for Future Brides

Happy Monday Guys! Sorry I've been MIA lately, life has been a little crazy to say the least. Forrest and I finally moved back to Lexington about 2 months ago, I started a new job and he's getting ready to start his rotations. Wow when did we become grown ups?!?!!

As some of you might know Forrest and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary a month ago so I've been reminiscing on our big day a lot lately which led me to writing this blog post. I wanted to help all you future brides out there and give you some tips and tricks to make sure your wedding day is everything you ever dreamed of. Let me start off by saying hindsight is 20/20 and I'm only able to give you this advice because I've already been there and done that.  OK so here we gooo.....

Tip #1
If your budget will allow it hire a wedding coordinator. Trust me it will 100% be worth it. They do all the behind the scenes work that you can't keep up with on your wedding day, like making sure the vendors are ready to go and every little detail is going as planned. They truly are life savers for brides!! Plus a wedding coordinator can make sure all the rest of these tips go off without a hitch.

Tip #2
Pack a "wedding day essential" bag. If you already have your bag packed and ready to go with you on your wedding day adventures your life will be so much easier. In the bottom of the bag put your lingerie that you plan on wearing your wedding night followed by your honeymoon travel outfit. You should also include hairspray, bobby pins, perfume, lip gloss and any touch up makeup you might need.

Tip #3
Make sure you wear waterproof mascara. It's inevitable that you will shed a tear or two some point throughout the day and ain't nobody got time for mascara to be running down their face.

Tip #4
Makeup setting spray is a must on your wedding day. For all you summer brides, its going to be HOT and you ARE going to sweat. But if you have on a setting spray your makeup will stay in place all day no matter what.

Tip #5
Don't forget to wear deodorant and I don't mean just any old deodorant, get the heavy duty clinical strength stuff. You will be hugging tons of people and smelling clean & fresh is a necessity.

Tip #6
Drink plenty of water. It's going to be a long day and you need to stay hydrated especially if you plan on drinking champagne and mimosa's while getting ready.

Tip #7
Bring along a Polaroid Camera and put your bridesmaids in charge of taking cute photos. These photos will be perfect in a scrapbook and I don't know about you but Polaroid pictures just make me happy!

Tip #8
Ask your caterers to make you and your future hubby a to-go box. Most likely you won't even take the time to eat at your receptions because you'll be talking to so many people, taking pictures, and dancing the night away. When the reception is over and you get back to your hotel room the hunger will set in and that to-go box will be a godsend, believe me!

Tip #9
Send your photographer a list of all the photos you want a few weeks before your wedding day. Take it from me, you won't be able to remember everything on your big day so giving this list to the photographer ahead of time will alleviate a lot of stress and anxiety. Make sure you include candid photos of you with your bridesmaids, parents, siblings, flower girls, etc on that list. These photos will be so special and mean so much when you look back on your wedding day.

Tip #10
Lastly and most importantly take time to enjoy the moment! All you future brides have probably been told this a thousand times but I can't stress it enough. You won't believe how fast the day flies by so SOAK UP EVERY MINUTE! Take in all the marvelous things that are happening because you decided to marry the love of your life!
